What we provide

Alexplains provides one-on-one tutoring in math and physics, delivered online or in person by one of our instructors. Sessions are individual — we do not run group classes. We help students understand their coursework; we do not guarantee any particular grade or test score, and we will not complete graded work on a student's behalf.

Who books

Sessions for students under 18 must be booked by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for payment and for the accuracy of the information provided. By booking, you confirm you are that parent or guardian, or an adult student booking for yourself.

Booking

• Sessions can be booked up to 14 days ahead.
• Booking closes 12 hours before the session start time, so the instructor can prepare.
• Sessions run between 08:00 and 20:00 Eastern time.
• Online sessions include a Google Meet link, sent with the calendar invite. The parent is included on every invite.

Changes and cancellations

Reschedule or cancel free of charge any time before the 12-hour cutoff — no reason needed.

Inside 12 hours, a $5 late-cancellation fee applies, because the time was held and can rarely be refilled. We waive it for illness and genuine emergencies — just tell us what happened. We would rather a sick student rested than sat through a session they will not absorb.

If an instructor has to cancel, you owe nothing and we will offer a replacement time.

Payment

Payment is by Venmo. Your session is confirmed when you book it, not when you pay — we send the invite first and the payment request alongside it. Payment is due by the time the session takes place. Any late-cancellation fee is added to your next payment request rather than charged separately.

Repeated unpaid sessions may mean we pause future bookings until the balance is settled. We will always email before doing that.

Conduct

We ask for basic courtesy in both directions: turn up on time, be reachable if plans change, and treat the instructor as you would a teacher. We reserve the right to end a session or decline future bookings in cases of abusive behaviour. We will refund time not delivered in that situation.

Recording

We do not record sessions. Please do not record an instructor without asking first.

Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy policy. In short: parent-provided, minimal, never sold.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force for a session is the one published when you booked it. Material changes will be emailed to current families.
